Petitions

In order to be on the March 16th Republican Primary Ballot, we have to collect signatures from registered voters throughout Champaign County.  If you'd like to help, you can click on the link below to download a petition.

Collecting signatures on petitions is an enjoyable way to help the campaign.  You can collect from family, friends, neighbors, and business associates.

Here are a few helpful tips for you as you circulate.

Circulators

The circulator must witness each signature on the petition that he distributes. You can not leave a petition lying around unsupervised to collect signatures. You can not allow a person to sign for his spouse.

Any citizen over the age of 18 can circulate a petition, even if they don’t live in the district or even the state. A blank petition can be copied and anyone can circulate as many petitions as they want.

Your petition must be notarized to be valid. Please do not sign until you are in front of a notary.

All signature lines on the petition don’t have to be filled in. We want any partial petitions. Every voter matters!

Do not number the petitions that you hand in.

If you learn that a signature is invalid, it does not invalidate the entire petition.

You may sign the petition that you are circulating.

Petition Signers

Petition signers must live in Champaign County. A person can sign a petition for more than one Republican candidate any office.

Signers and circulators must give a valid physical address on the petition. No post office boxes are allowed.

Petitions should be signed as the person signs his or her name typically. There is no requirement to include middle names or initials or a full first name if the person doesn’t sign with that.

When You’re Done

After you’re done circulating the petition, return it to us or contact us. Petitions should be returned by November 10, 2015.
